e have one new addition to report for KC Racing. We've slowed down on acquiring new horses for our stable as we like to keep our racing string small and manageable which is a feat when compared to the monstrous size of the more popular racing stables. As of right now, KC Racing sports 6 juveniles for 2016; In Reality Stakes* winner, Icarus Flight; The Wire Finish Cup Juvenile Turf* winner, Rising Wonder, Oh The Irony, Louisiana Blues, Sweet Talker and Beyond Constellation. After the rapid successes of Icarus Flight and Rising Wonder, the decision was made to lease out the remainder of our 2016 juveniles so that we could completely focus on allowing these two horses to train and race at their absolute best this year. Our classic string, that is our 3-year olds, is relatively small with 4 horses this year. We've leased out Partyatthedisco to Firestone Racing this year to compensate for our buying of Indian Night and Apache Sunrise earlier this year. Our classic string is composed of Davona Dale Stakes* winner and Triple Tiara contender, Rise Me Gold, A-Lot-to-Live-Up-To Stakes* winner and Triple Crown contender, Roussong, and our Canadian Triple Tiara contender, Apache Sunrise. Our classic string is shaping up to be quite formidable on the racetrack this year, thankfully.
Moving on to our senior string which is composed of 8, formally 9, horses. Silent Heart was originally part of our senior string but was retired a few weeks ago and has now settled into her new life at KC Stud. Our senior string features KC Racing's founding colt, Muggathugga who hit G2 earlier this year. Once the shining star of our racing string, Sylvanite won the Maryland Derby* last year, it was a part of the Turf Distance Series. She's slowed down quite a bit this year and we're worried about her progress as this is a filly who blew her competition out of the water.
A True Hero achieved G2 status last December and he's been running with it ever since. He placed second in the Spring Cup G2 Dirt* this year as well as placing third in the Clark Handicap*. Escape Artist, our first sprinter acquired a year or so ago from Battlebrook Stables acquired G2 status recently. Louisiana Blues is gradually picking up the pace after a soggy season last year and we hope to see her run like she did for her juvenile season. Indian Night is still adjusting to his new home and has come off a fourth place to two wins. Dark Maiden, originally acquired alongside Silent Heart, is currently racing under Highgrove Thoroughbreds and has secured some decent placings this year. Last, but not least, is the formidable Enrapture acquired from Battlebrook. This filly started the year off right with a 3-win streak before narrowly getting second place in the First Lady Cup*. This filly is two wins away from achieving G1 status, a first for KC Racing. She's known to hold grudges and will definitely come back with a vengeance if she meets the filly who bested her again.
We mentioned a recent addition to KC Racing, we've went on long enough about the majority of our horses. As many already know, KC Racing no longer races our yearlings and instead focus on letting them enjoy their time out in the paddocks with their stablemates. We teach the yearlings basic ground training and eventually start backing them around late August. Our yearlings consist of 8 horses who will debut next January. This includes Optimus Prime (first foal and son by Optimus Unstoppable), Foolish Lass, Figurati (first son and foal by In Front), The Huntress, Truth Teller, Speedy Tomcat and Party O'War (pictured).
Party O'War is our most recent, and probably last addition of the year. We acquired the colt from the owner of Mardi Gras' and Partyattthedisco's sire and dam. Yup, you guessed it, this is a full sibling to both of those mares. It turns out that Party O'War, affectionately called Conan, was actually orphaned by his dam after she had difficulty foaling him. The end result was the loss of his dam and the foal having to be given to a nurse mare to nurture. Conan is a massive colt that looks menacing with his sleek, black coat and dark eyes, but he's an absolute joy to be around. This colt will unfortunately be the last full sibling to Mardi Gras that we get to own, but we feel as though this colt will accomplish great things by the time his debut comes around next year.
