More Reasons Why
Demonic Desires was bred for greatness, out of two Hall Of Fame sprinters himself, but he transcended all expectations. From the moment he hit the tracks, Demonic Desires was a feared champion. In a juvenile season worthy of recognition by itself, Demon rattled off nine wins, eight in HoTY races. He pulled off victories in the Wire Finish Cup Juvenile Sprint, Magic Millions Colts Turf Sprint, Azalea Cup Colts, Racing Post Trophy and capped it all off in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. And when he did lose, he placed no lower than second. Demon proved his class from five to eight furlongs and continued to prove it as a three year old. He captured such races as Rush Stakes, Boys Festival, Turquoise Sprint and Superstar Sprint. His crowning victory came in the City Of Laurel Stakes, when he faced off against the two top turf sprinting mares of his generation, stablemate Innocent Passion and her famed rival Cross My Heart, and ascended to legendary heights by narrowly defeating both. Both got their revenge by placing over him in the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint at the end of the season, but the City Of Laurel Stakes heralded the coming of a new sprinting giant in the older turf sprinting ranks.
As a four year old, Demonic Desires was absolutely feared. He reeled off eleven wins by the end of a solidly Horse of the Year racing campaign. These wins came in such races as the Unicorn Horn Turf Sprint, Wire Finish Cup Sprint and Dash Stakes. The black stallion simply stopped losing past October Week Three, winning the last five races of his career. Among those wins was the entirety of the Senior Turf Sprinting Series, making Demonic Desires the series' first winner, and the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint which had been denied to him the year prior. Demonic Desires capped off his final season with a picture perfect win in the Dubai World Sprint, picking up from where Forbidden To Fly left the race prior.
As the winner of well over half of his career starts, two Breeders Cup races, an entire series and the Dubai World Sprint, Demonic Desires is well deserving of this nomination and entry into the Hall Of Fame.
