Simply Stated
ridden by Naomi Cross
Carter took one look at the sleek bay colt that stood in front of the Firestone training track, head held high with a gleam of excitement in his big brown eyes. Simply Stated acted just like his name suggests - a very simple dude with not a mean bone in his body. Soren, although still a baby, had the brain of a well-seasoned horse and was always waiting patiently for the next task asked of him. It was an exciting pick for Carter as he left the Annual Sale with yet another Intrepid bred baby. Nick Landing and his team had done a great job carefully producing and raising Soren as soon as he was able to be shipped off to his new home.
While he didn't have the most well known bloodlines, his sire Mainspring was a formidable foe on the track when he raced, who ran both surfaces across his 4 year career. Soren, like his dam, much prefers running on the turf. Naomi sat quietly on top of the young horse as they made their way around the track in an easy canter, the colt with his ears forward and happy expression on his face.
The pair was a tiny dot in the distance to Carter, who leaned against the track rail watching the duo easily extend into a gallop. For a two year old colt, Soren looked already well-muscled and athletic, as any sprinter should. He was already losing his winter coat in the early weeks of January and Carter could see the sleek bay coat that hid underneath the winter dullness. Soren looked like he was having fun on the track, Naomi easily guiding him around the turns as they sped home. His still growing black tail flowed in the January wind as they shot past Carter. He had an interesting feeling about Soren, and if he was anything like the other horses that Intrepid had bred for him he was going to be a stunner.
