The bay roan made his way around the track in slow, lulling canter. He was awake and calm, but started to grow irritated when he saw the black filly step onto the track. Despite his aversion to other horses, Book of Secrets was a greatly awaited debut. His half brother, Constitution, through his dam's line was one of Crimson Haven's most successful juvenile of last year, so the bay roan colt had expectations placed on him ever since he arrived. Unlike his half-brother, Booker was generally more mellow and, what was the word? Sweeter or more caring? Booker wasn't domineering or very aggressive, but like his half-brother he didn't seem to fond of others of his kind.
Alethea, the black True Enough filly, was the complete opposite of Booker. He was calm and composed and she was bouncing nervously in her place. She's friendly and loves attention, and that was why the two were paired together for the workout: to get Booker used to those kind of horses on the track. The two met each other midway on the track, the bay roan colt snorting his displeasure. Both juveniles ran beside each other, Alethea fighting her jockey for a gallop. Booker seemed to only look at her with distaste. Finally, Thea's request was granted and both horses were urged into a gallop. Booker took the lead and settled in for a medium paced speed, Alethea following close behind.
Dylan let Booker lengthen his stride as the final stretch of the workout came. The colt took off with the same flame as his half-brother, leaving the filly behind him. Book of Secrets passed the marker and was reined in, Thea close in his tracks. The filly had shown a great display of strength and stamina, but her finish wasn't what it needed to be to match Booker's blistering closing speed, which seemed to be a common trait with Lady Liberty colts.
