Y18 marks the end of Connie Fae's first year in management at Highgrove Thoroughbreds. There has been many ups and downs, but most importantly, she and the other staff have all learnt so much and really feel they'll be able to do all the better with their horses come the new year. Excitingly, there are a few mature-aged horses who have earned retirement, and they will be among the first to find dwelling within the Stud and Broodmare sector of the property.
CRIOSPHINX is a successful G1 5-8F Dirt Sprinter, who was proven to be very competitive throughout all of his racing seasons. He is a horse who would likely find further success as a 5yo, but with his fresh lines we really feel he has so much value to us in the breeding barn that he doesn't need to run the extra year to prove himself. His real career as a stallion is only just beginning, and we truly hope his progeny will do us as proud as he, himself has.
MY REMEDY, oh how we love him! A 9-12F Dirt boy through and through, Remmie absolutely owned the undercards early Y17 - and is just a painful one win away from G1! With G1 status so close to his reach, it's a toss up currently whether we give him a few more starts in the new year to boost up his appeal as a new-line router stud, or if we give him his well deserved retirement now. But, going on 7yo, he's definitely ready to throw in the towel and enjoy a quiet life. He has a visit planned to the successful Valkyrie Broodmare, Xalbadora. So that really gives his progeny a good chance to show what they can do come Y20.
BLACK MAGIC - a hunk of a boy he is! G2, with preferences of 7-12F on the Turf, and a versatility few can match, we really think this Warlock son is going to be a top producer in the breeding barn. With a date already planned to Lawliet's Girl (by Merry Bay King) this year, we are hoping the resulting foal is going to give vivid insight on just how flexible and succesful his progeny can be.
BEYOND PERFECTION is overdue for his retirement, and it is clear he is ready for it. The G2 son of Beyond The Limits and Perfection has been shuffled between stables and never really had the chance to settle and prove himself. But we are happy to announce he will be enjoying his retirement from here on, and going nowhere!
