If ESCAPADE wasn't going to be a stable favourite for his tireless endeavours to give his all in every start, it would be for his beautiful, people-loving nature. A horse with these athletic abilities, but paired with an easy-going temperament is truly a once in a lifetime find. Fresh blood, we really see this guy producing an exciting new line of manageable sprinters come his retirement, no matter his success on the track. Though, if his recent claims to fame have been anything to go by, he is truly just getting started and has a whole lot more to give come his 3yo Season. His last start had us all jumping, he ran so incredibly well in a seriously competitive field of five talented juveniles, and came out very comfortably on top. Prior to this, he took another very strong win in a quality HOTY field. It's very exciting for us at highgrove to have a juvenile breaking out of Undercard's and showing the real talent required to overcome some of the best 2yo's of the year. Watch this space! TURBOCHARGED was perhaps, always a gamble. The first foal of an untried mare, and by Super Sparky (who has produced winners but is only recently starting to show his ability to produce horses beyond his own grade). We chose this pairing on the idealistic view of balance, and well, everybody knows it's rare you get the 50% of a parent that you want - but we got lucky. Turbo is aloof, but sensible. As trainers, he doesn't have a whole lot of interest in us but he does have a serious passion for racing, and if it weren't for that he wouldn't be showing the promise we are all starting to see today. He ran a couple of rough races upon his debut, but rapidly began improving there on in. A serious case of seconditis, we began addressing why he wasn't quite pulling ahead to take the win and his form has been on the up since. At 17hh, he's a big, bulky type of colt, and certainly shows room to grow into his bones. We've become quite convinced that his improvement this late in the year has been likely due to the extra time required for this big guy to truly muscle out, and we really believe he's going to be a good candidate to do the most damage in Y18 and Y19.
