The narrow winding path had begun to open up a little, the temperature of the afternoon had dropped considerably beneath the filtered shade of the trees. Amazingly, the pair moved on in complete silence; which was a rarity for all involved. Leo and Connie were usually engaged in some sort of play or silly conversation. Undoubtedly, it was guaranteed to be shortlived; for though Connie was mounted quite comfortable atop the sensible Charlie Tango, Leo walked alongside with the over-exhuberant yearling, Mild Manic. She was rapidly approaching her juvenile season and Debut, but the youngster had grown no more sound in mind. She, like her mother, was constantly overwhelmed by any sort of stimulation. The last time they had taken this walk, she was a nightmare. They had hoped that alongside a more sensisble horse, she might learn to cope a little better with her surroundings.
"I quite like this horse," Connie remarked as she ran a hand down the greys muscled neck; though he wasn't theirs to keep, he was an asset to their team regardless. "Ha, lucky you," Leo remarked, playfully, as the elegant filly by his side continued to dance sideways in a far from mature fashion. Eventually, the gentle trickle of water could be heard over the restless snorts of Millie.
