IF YOU WANT TO ENTER THIS TOURNAMENT, ALL OF THIS INFORMATION MUST BE READ. Believe me, reading it is in your best interests.
Information
The Best Bred Tournament is an annual tournament run by SOPS every year (though we missed Y16!!). It does not take place in any specified game week; rather, it is simply opened and then closed according to real life dates. This event should be highly regarded; the prizes for winning are lucrative reserves to very good horses.
This year, entries will close January 20th, 2018. The event shall run shortly afterward. I will judge each and every event.
Judging
As the title suggests, the best bred horse will win this tournament. I will be judging mainly off of bloodline suitability to the class entered. There will be a little bit of personality judging thrown in as well which will serve as a type of tiebreaker, but the main judging will be on bloodlines. I know bloodlines don't determine everything; however, this tournament was formed to honor the yearlings and weanlings with the best bloodlines.
Entry Requirements
1. Your horse must be a SIM bred horse with a SIM pedigree. Created/original horses will not be allowed. Horses from made-up parents will not be allowed.
2. One horse per member per division. You can enter one horse in everything if you want; however, you can't enter two in one division. You'll have to make the decision. It is possible that if there is a lack of entries, you will be allowed to enter more than one horse per division. Stay tuned!
On an additional note, horses can only be entered in one division. If there is a lack of entries, entering one horse into more than one division may be permitted.
3. Horses entering the yearling division must have been born in year sixteen; horses entering the weanling division must have been born in year seventeen (this year).
4. Horses that won a weanling category last year are not allowed to enter a yearling category this year UNLESS it is for a different distance group or surface. For Y17, this rule is not applicable because this tournament did not run in Y16.
5. Got a horse with a distance extension, or just some funky distance you don't know what to do with? Here is a list of where you would enter those horses:
5-8 must be entered in Sprints; this horse CANNOT enter Milers
5-9 can be entered in Sprints or Milers; this horse CANNOT enter Classics
5-10 can be entered in Sprints or Milers; if the horse has remarkable parentaqe for Classics on at least one side, it can also enter Classics with personal permission from me
6-9 can be entered in Sprints or Milers; this horse CANNOT enter Classics
6-10 can be entered in Sprints or Milers; if the horse has remarkable parentage for Classics on at least one side, it can also enter Classics with personal permission from me
6-11 can be entered in Milers or Classics; if the horse has remarkable parentage for Sprints on at least one side, it can also enter Sprints with special permission from me; if the horse has remarkable parentage for Marathoners on at least one side, it can also enter Marathons with special permission from me
7-10 can be entered in Milers or Classics; this horse CANNOT enter Sprints
7-11 can be entered in Milers or Classics; this horse CANNOT enter Marathons
7-12 must be entered in Classics; if the horse has remarkable parentage for Milers on at least one side, it can also enter Milers with special permission from me; if the horse has remarkable parentage for Marathons on at least one side, it can also enter Marathons with special permission from me
6. Have a dual surface horse and don't know where to enter? Enter the horse on the surface that is most strongly favored by the horse's pedigree. Even if the parents were dual surface, often a horse favors one surface over the other even slightly. Dual-surfaced classic distance horses may also enter the Canadian Triple Series divisions!
7. Not sure where to enter? PM me!
8. Follow all additional entry instructions in the separate entry threads. Good luck and have fun!
Division Definitions
Sprints = Your horse is bred to enjoy distances ranging from five to seven furlongs.
Milers = Your horse is bred to dominate races from seven to nine furlongs.
Classics = Your horse is bred to excel at running ten to twelve furlongs.
Marathons = Your horse is bred to excel at running eleven or twelve furlongs, moreso than at nine and ten furlongs.
