ripley Win. Adrasteia Place. Fire Goddess Show. Impressionable Fourth. Catastrophic TW Y17 Novizio Derby*
lolly WIN. Vesuvius PLACE. Soaring Passion SHOW. Mistweaver Fourth. Rough Boy Fifth. Royal Charm Sixth. Don't Count Me Out DEEP BREATH. Mistweaver has a lot of HOTY experience on the rest of the field, but I didn't get the impression 9F was her strong-point. Admittedly I only looked up the distance of her two wins this year - listing the distances on races is probably something that would have helped me here. She's a very strong filly but seems to find her comfort zone in sprints. Soaring Passion is very similar in class, but I tossed up the liklihood of him winning at a distance he seemingly doesn't favour - but all the same is very capable of. Both Rough Boy and Vesuvius are more inclined to excel at the distance (but lack in HOTY experience), with Vesuvius significantly edging out Rough Boy on consistency this year. Royal Charm and Don't Count Me Out are two capable fillies who are both contenders for a good placing, but they lack a little on the HOTY experience/distance preference that the rest of the field seem to have one or the other of, to make them stand out a little more. This was a big field, and I almost wanted to put Rough Boy in 3rd due to his familiarity with 9F starts. However Mistweaver's solid HOTY record wasn't something I could overlook, as much as I felt she didn't suit the distance entirely. Vesuvius really lacks on the HOTY side of starts, but his impressive season and favour for the distance was really something I felt pushed him to the front today. The bottom two ladies were hard to place there, though Don't Count Me Out has won at 9F before, the remainder of her poorer placings this year have been at this distance. All the same, she's a lovely horse and I'm not happy having to put her in 6th. Royal Charm was all around a little more consistent in her placings, and her only win at HOTY level was at 9 furlongs - she could have easily swapped places with Rough Boy and been a contender for 3rd place in my mind, but sadly we can't all be in the money. Dirt Races Shackleford Handicap - 9F - G5
cruisey WIN Dogma PLACE Legionare show Seize The Throne Amazombie Derby - 7F - G5
isa FIRST Chaotic Limitations SECOND Super Cat THIRD Winter Soldier FOURTH Hellagood Timtam Derby - 8F - G2
cruisey WIN Fusillade PLACE Dark Maiden SHOW Proletariat fourth Blue Heroine fifth Tiny Dancer This was rough to judge lol. Fusillade's backclass, consistency, and the fact he likes this distance a lot pegged him as the winner today. Dark Maiden has always been super consistent, and I know getting that 13th win is frustrating lol. She's a feisty mare and just managed to squeeze past Proletariat. Blue Heroine I felt 8F was a bit of a stretch for her seeing as most of her wins came from 6/7f. I'm not saying restrict her here but those are the distances she prefers and she met a tough group of older horses. Tiny Dancer I wished I could place higher however this was a very tough group of G2 milers and she got caught in a weird pace set up today. Broadway Derby - 8F - G1

rende WIN Amnesty place Ouro Lume show Earthly Witch 4th Authentic Aura 5th Natural Defiance As always, another juvie gender-restricted races brings some great up and coming youngsters to the scene. Out of all the horses in the field, Amnesty had the most racked up experience not only at this distance, but even at the shorter distances. A truly versatile filly on the dirt that is not afraid to tempt fate. Ouro Lume led the pack for a good while starting a fast place before allowing Earthly Witch to lead the field towards the final stretch. Authentic Aura needs just a little bit more experience at the longer distances, with only running the distance twice @ 11-12 furlongs. Natural Defiance was inexperienced starting her career a little later in the year. At the stretch, Amnesty powered forward with ease. Another great race between fillies! WIN Realeza PLACE Indigo Dream SHOW Insouciant fourth Mambo Mama fifth Over Time sixth Wise Guy DQ: Lux Aeturna (turf runner) Realeza took had this race at the turn, and opened up a four-length lead over closest challenger, Indigo Dream. 2yos were vying for 3rd, as these type of things go, and Insouciant had the best tools in the chest to get this thing done. Dirty Intentions Stakes - 11F - G4
isabelle FIRST Rough Boy SECOND Soaring Passion THIRD Persian Virtue FOURTH Momentarily Herself Ugh *slaps forehead* kenren I stuck him in the wrong race. Yeah DQ for that please XD I meant for him to be in the Palindrome Stakes. I'll see if I can pop him in somewhere next week. Lolly This race was going to Rough Boy and Soaring Passion first and second. Soaring Passion was an inch from the win, but I felt Rough Boy was just so overdue for a victory. He's been pushing and pushing for a win, True Enough foals tend to be durable, they might be down for a while but they do have the underdog flavor and snap up a win under a favorite's nose. He had a small but consistent two year old year, and I feel was caught up in some hard competition early this year. He has been racing at G4 quality since the beginning of January in undercard and HOTY. I don't think much is going to hold Soaring Passion down, and he will most likely be pulling in more HOTY wins soon. He's got the back class, experience, and pedigree I could not see putting him lower than second. Persian Virtue was on an impressive winning streak, but she is a four year old who has been competing mostly with juveniles to get where she is. She hasn't much track experience yet, and only just began competing in G4, and facing up seasoned, experienced track colts with packed pedigrees I couldn't see her overtaking them. When an older horse starts out they do find wins very quickly because their competitions is juveniles, who never beat an older horse, but once they get into competing with horses more their own age who have backgrounds their success can be shaken up by competitors because they're not in the 'soft zone' anymore, that's what I call the buffer the older horses have racing low levels with younger horses. Don't get discouraged by this, our horses can't win every single race they enter. Archmage Derby - 6F - G3
