STABLE SPOTLIGHT JUNIORS
We may be four, but hear us roar!
Crooked Intentions
Back with us after a brief lease to BRS which has closed its doors, Tia has snagged a win to make it to grade two. The difficult mare will be sticking to undercards, we’re hoping to turn around her out of the money finishes into a more rounded record. She seems to prefer the shorter miler distances on turf recently, we’re hoping she sticks with it and becomes more consistent. If she improves we’ll throw her a couple of smaller HOTY races at the very end of the year to see if she perks at some extra competition. We’re unsure if she’ll be around for another season or not, it depends on how she copes with the remaining year.
Fantasy Island
Although she may not be a champion in terms of the history books, this obstinate mare is holding her own for a very respectable season so far. She’s picked up two wins, a third, and most recent a second in the Summer Cup. We’ve slated her for some more undercards with the seasonal cups for most of the season, to see how she shapes up under our schedules and training styles. She has rare, older blood, and we’ll be watching to pick up on the nuances of her abilities and what she could continue to do with us next season and in the future for foals.
Like A Lioness
An impromptu lease from KC Racing, we saw some untapped potential! From Isabelle’s recent bloodline digging, she saw this mare as being more adept in a longer range and a dual surface from this girl’s pedigree. Like A Cheetah x HOF Euphoria (HOF/BHOF True Enough) this girl has got a pedigree with a punch, and NDM hopes to coax her into it. At first we’re going to do one undercard and one HOTY race per month to see how she maneuvers, and we’ll work from there to maximize this lady’s talent.
Luminous Wave
Having sold this mare just before she began her prospect competitions, Luminous Wave has become a grade one winner. She has come to NDM for her final few months of racing, giving us a chance to help her strut her stuff before she starts to make beautiful foals. Our goals with her are to help make her shine, she has a very good overall record, and we’re hoping to capitalize on some of her past performances to aid her this year. Last season she won the So Sassy Sprint, placed in the Daisy Sprint and the Sunshine Stakes. We’re going to up her game and enter her into more prestigious events, to see if she pop and make a bigger name for herself.
Sugar Demon
Suda started off the year with a bang! With three HOTY wins by the end of March, this girl has been placing well in a variety of upper class competitions. She seems to have hit of a bit of a bump, as she hasn’t won since March and her last few races were lower than expected. To compensate and help give her some confidence we’re giving her a bit of a break now, then she’ll take on the Phoenix Gold Cup at the end of June. With an undercard and the Seaspray Cup in July, she’ll have all of August off, and then we’ve penciled her in for The Perfect Sting Stakes at BSD in September. After we see how she goes, we’ll formulate the rest of the season for her. We’re crossing our fingers she could be a contender for one of this year’s Breeder’s Cup sprints!
Tiger Heart
Tiger has certainly sharpened his claws and come out with his A game this year. With five wins, we’re so proud of him, and hoping he can keep his momentum for the latter half of the season. We’re going to keep trying him in the challenging HOTY meets, but we’ll give him a few lower undercards so he can maintain his resolve and get some breaks as well. He’s looking to be a competitor for Breeder’s for the first time, but we don’t want to jinx him.
