STABLE SPOTLIGHT: SENIORS
We may be five, but we still thrive!
Barely A Sound
Bumping up into higher class racing this season, Barely A Sound’s last win was in the Carter Handicap, at the end of February. Since then she’s been competing in both HOTY and undercards, building up a decent record as the middle of the year closes in. We’re going to keep challenging her, and hopefully she’ll pick up a couple more solid wins before the end of the year. We’re hoping to try her in a Breeder’s Cup race for the first time, but that will hinge on if she builds up enough and stays strong to put in a good effort in such a prestigious event. Coming up for her are the Orchid Stakes, Strub Stakes, and the Bold Ruler Handicap.
Dragonheart
Vising us from Nature Spring Acres, Dragonheart will be with us the rest of this season and probably for the next. He definitely needs some extra attention, and will be hitting the grade four tracks right away. He’s settled into NDM and his new schedule quite well, even despite his naughty nature, and even had a romp with his dad, Everyday Hero. Being such a handful, we happily let Evander Thorne take him on as a mount. Known for his expertise in the most unruly Thoroughbreds, the pair seem to be getting on fairly well. No blood has been drawn, anyway. We’re going to feel him out with a couple of undercards and see how he does, and once he’s placing well we’ll stir things up a bit with a few smaller, lighter HOTY races.
Simba
The feisty, wild colt is still going extremely well energy wise. We’re trying to edge him up into tougher competition, and he’s proving himself by starting to creep up a bit in the ranks. He’s finding himself in competition with others who have one or two more seasons under their belt than him, but he does have age on his side, so it’s becoming a balancing act. Still doing equally well on both turf and dirt, we’ve got a couple large entries for him coming up: Blue Rascal Derby, The Natural Memorial Stakes, and The King’s Bishop.
