Ephermeral & Insouciant
Carter slapped himself in the face as he watched the nervous filly launch herself and almost kill one of the male grooms coming off of the Firestone trailer. Ephermeral stood in front of Firestone's dutch doors, wide-eyed and covered in sweat which made her coat five shades of bay darker than it normally was. Carter got no warning of the filly's dislike of males until he tried loading her himself at Grayson Meadows. The damn horse had tried to take a chunk out of his arm in fear. He had to give it to the team at GM, they had figured out a troubled horse and Carter hoped he could do the same until Tanner Grayson returned from his vacation.
Following shortly behind Effie was a tiny bay spitfire by the name of Insouciant. The two year old colt came off the trailer all guns blazing as he let out a very loud whinny, signalling his presence at Firestone. He had his ears pressed against his head and his tail was raised like a flag, swishing it constantly at his new surroundings. He was proving already to be a pain in the ass, but Carter had watched his first run against a competitive crowd back in January and knew the colt could be something different.
Devon, who was trying to hold Ephermeral, quickly handed the nervous filly over to Carter, who then handed her over to Talia, who had been trying to contain Blaze's attitude off to the side of the Firestone driveway. Devon then went to grab his new mount's lead rope, carefully ducking away from the juvenile's teeth. Lucky for Devon, he had dealt with Innerstellar and Siren Call many times before so dealing with a distant brother to Siren Call would be a walk in the park. Effie was still freaking out over nothing, but managed to calm down when Talia took over her lead rope. The filly's neck was soaked in sweat and it was getting to the point of foaming. Talia grimaced at what her hand felt like after petting the poor soul.
Their stalls were already waiting and deeply bedded, so Devon led Blaze into his new stall in the juvenile block of the Firestone barn. Talia led Effie over the other direction and hooked her into the wash stall where she got a nice cold hose to help calm her nerves before leading her to the 'Classics' row. Carter stayed a while to make sure they were settling in nicely, and when Effie started to calm down and Blaze made himself comfortable munching away on hay in the corner of his stall.
