Week 2 Cool Lake Marathon - M - 12f - D - 2yocruisey WIN Night Terror PLACE True Speed show Natural Defiance The boys got the best of Natural Defiance here. Without a start under her belt this season the two boys gave her a run for her money, but she kept right with them just until the end where she began her run early on but tired ever so slightly. I think once she gets more experience under her she will be a threat. Green Marsh Hike - M - 12f - T - 2yoscotia WIN Earthly Witch PLACE Insolence Green and White Stakes - G5+ - 8f - D - 2yoGate One: Surrealism jockeyed by Myra Collins Ernest L. Wild Havoc Place. Flawless Majesty Show. Eulogy Rise Whew, the top two are fierce. I'm so excited to see them both back in action. They dominated the race today and I expect them both to be back at the top levels in no time. THE GREAT GRADUATION DERBY* - G1 - 11f - D - 3yo+ripley Win. Fire Goddess Place. Coincidence SPARTAN STAMPEDE DASH* - G5+ - 7f - T - 3yo PREP FOR THE TURF SPRINTER TRIPLE CROWNkenren WIN Storm Warning PLACE Breaking Point SHOW Seattle Lightning fourth Pied Piper fifth Ruling Restraint sixth Regal Rose This was a really interesting race to look at. It had a bit of everything - some excelled as juveniles and are struggling now, some weren't great as juveniles but are rising on undercards this year, and overall it was actually a fairly level playing field. Some of the results are probably a little surprising, but 3yo sprinter HOTYs are always a bit dodgy this time of year because most of them have had lighter schedules than other horses their age since their series doesn't come until later in the year. That being said, I'd consider every horse in this race, from 1-6, on the road to the turf series. A lot of things can happen between now and then! Not to mention some of these may be green milers. Anyway, this was actually a pretty fun race to judge. Regal Rose - These colts were destructive, and the filly had more hard-knocking and bump-and-grind than she expected in this race. The filly division isn't any less competitive, so I can't even point at some respite for her there - not that she isn't completely capable of taking them on. It'll be a hard struggle for all of these horses to get to the top, so the filly will have to work even harder! Ruling Restraint - Like all of these horses, this colt was shifted around a bunch on this finish order. In the end, I figured this was his first real race on the trail, and I believe he'll learn a ton from it. He's got a perfect record to build off of for the later 3yo series, and I think he'll do just that off of this loss. Storm Warning & Breaking Point - I got to my final two with these, and of the two Storm Warning really grabbed me. But it was nothing if not stupidly close, because I couldn't decide for the longest time. Good luck with these colts! Pied Piper - Not much I can say here, really. The only thing that bumped him out of the top three was the fact that I really had some conviction about Seattle Lightning snagging that third place spot. So basically I'm saying he'll learn from this one too, and that these horses are so well-matched that none of these races will be a shoe-in. Everyone's going to have a shot at the winner's circle before we reach the series. NEW ECONOMY OAKS* - G5+ - 9f - T - 3yo Fisabelle FIRST Kismet SECOND Roses Rampant THIRD Silent Front MAJESTIC WARRIOR STAKES* - G5+ - 11f - T - 3yoripley Win. Patriot Place. Catastrophic Show. Knight's Ransom Knight's Ransom: He definitely needs more confidence and easier racing. This was a good race to get his feet wet, but I would suggest placing him undercards until he starts winning again. VERY ONE STAKES* - G2+ - 7F - DIRT - 4YO+ F/Mkenren WIN Artemis' Glory PLACE Melodious SHOW Hellfire fourth Sugar Demon fifth Trinity sixth Tiny Dancer Aside from Tiny Dancer, who was out of her league in this one, I had a case for every one of these to hit top three. In the end it was a surprisingly vicious field for this point in the season and anything can happen and I'm just going to walk away now xD

kenren WIN Regal Rose PLACE Faded Dreams SHOW Deathflash's Truth I never actually raised nor bred Deathflash's Truth myself, so I don't feel attached enough to him to not judge this race. Holly, Regal Rose is very, very nice - I think if you run her in one or two more undercards and she continues to do well you should get her in turf sprint tiara preps. Hullabaloo Derby - G3+ - 7f - D - 3yo Gate One: Cantankerous Stakes - G3+ 7f - T - 3yo

kenren WIN Bona Fide PLACE Wild Tide SHOW Partyatthedisco fourth Lawless I didn't want to judge this race because I thought I might have to do this, and I didn't want to. I wanted to give Lawless her big break. But I when I looked at the other horses in this race, it just didn't seem fair to punish them when they've all been running such great seasons. Now I can't guarantee that Lawless will totally pull to form for the CTT, but it's such a new series and I think this is a good step toward making her competitive in it. Just get her every bit of exposure you can until it happens. Moving from that, Bona Fide is shaping up very, very nicely, and I'm excited to see what she'll do! She just barely nabbed this from an obviously very strong Wild Tide. WILL TAKE CHARGE STAKES* - G5+ - 11f - D - 3yo

Week 4
May Week 4Fragile Speed Stakes - M - 5f - D - 2yoripley Win. Whistle Blower Place. Truly Limitless Show. Insouciant All three are very good three year olds. I thought that Whistle Blower and Truly Limitless would go head to head for the duration of the race, with the colt coming out on top at this point. He tracked the filly mercilessly and ground out the win. Insouciant strikes me as a colt that needs some racing to get his head in the right direction, especially with his excitable personality Grassroots Derby - M - 5f - T - 2yo Cruisey Gate One: Fire Assault jockeyed by Ariel Winslow Amasa Derby - G5+ - 10f - D - 2yo Cavallo
