It was a bright and early morning and still it seemed the heat wanted to pester through luckily it was still cool outside enough for a nice and decent workout. Terri Lane woke from her bed or so woke from hers and Chris's bed, the two had been engaged for quite sometime now and would wait for a right time to set a date. She woke up Chris with a bright and gentle smile, "come on Chris let's go for a run." Chris was certainly regretting these morning workouts but he knew it had to be done. Both jockey's soon were dressed and headed to the stables where Terri with a bright smile walked passed all the stalls to see the beautiful champions in them before she stopped at Striker's stall. Tuff E'Nuff peeked his head out when he got the sense of Terri's scent approaching his stall and the colt seemed vibrant to see her. "Hows my good man today huh? Want to go for a little run this morning?" Terri said latching the lead onto his halter and walking him out.
Terri was interested to know of what horse Chris would choose to take out and before she could ask she spotted Chris leading the Underdog colt Gallant Pup. "I never understood why you like riding the crazy ones." Terri said before Chris shrugged his shoulders, "Its not that I like the crazy ones they understand me okay." Chris said in return. Both jockey's had prepped each animal placing the saddles on their backs and put on their helmets. Tuff E'Nuff easily towered Gallant Pup and this made the chestnut juvenile very uncomfortable to where he bobbed his head and began to play with the bit in his mouth. They soon headed off towards the tracks they cooped up for the horses and Striker had only trotted there while Pops gave canter.
It was going to be an interesting turn of events with these two. Once they were in the ready they both took off with their tails raised and both jockey's holding on for dear life. Tuff E'Nuff was going to try out for the Triple Crown he had the guts and will power to with only four out of the money placings those results never seemed to hurt the colts potential he thrived for the race and for the win. Striker remained on the outside pushing forward aching on Gallant Pups eager drive, to lash out the personality of one War Admiral lined colt. Gallant Pup was still a maiden but perhaps he needed a boost, it was a while since the colt had a good run but this was his first year at racing, a half brother to Breaking Point always had eyes everywhere. This was a workout of David versus Goliath the monstrous frame of Tuff E'Nuff and the tiny but muscular frame of Gallant Pup was certainly a different matter.
The two came along the back stretch, Terri asking for more of Striker's strides and the colt dared listen and soon began to pickup even more stamina pushing and following through with every command. Chris had his own agenda much like GS SuperCharged this colt would show his true potential and he would hold off Pop's true performance until the last stretch where a smaller horse like Pops would do the most damage. Brushing passed the final turn Chris set Gallant Pup loose over he dirt below their hoofs and the colt rose his head before taking off after the massive True Enough colt. The end came along and Striker passed it with only a length between him the Pops.
Terri soon slowed the light bay colt and patted him on the neck before laying down to give him a hug. "That's my boy..." Terri said smiling brightly at her fiance who shook his head at her excitement. "Keep that smile up I may just have you cook dinner tonight." Chris said also patting Pops to praise the colt for his good hard work. Chris was hoping to get Gallant Pup to the top, the colt had wonderful lines old lineage to be exact. He just hoped that his attitude would soon come to a soften tone once he matured.
