|~-*NORTH DIAMOND MANOR SPRING HIGHLIGHTS*-~|
Yes dear readers, it is I, Noisette French, back from quite a long hiatus from reporting directly to you! Isabelle has been preferring to make her own statements during the break since I last penned an interview, but she at last relented in a small sit-down with me over some tea this past afternoon. Without further ado, I shall divulge the highlights of the happenings around NDM this spring!
NF: I’d love to start off with your senior string, the four year olds! Boy what a season for them so far.
I: Yes! Sugar Demon and Tiger Heart have really been tearing it up out there, I struggled last season with both of them in the HOTY races, but both have jumped up this year and brought on their A game for sure. We’re so proud of them, and are looking to carefully select races so we don’t goof them up! Crooked Intentions is going to be heading for another stable for the rest of this season, we’re still not exactly sure we’ve figured her out. Holly Montgomery gave her a try last year, but had similar problems, so we’re hoping that Blackwood Racing Stables can get her into top form for us. Depending on how the season plays out, she may or may not be retired at the end of this year.
NF: Okay, so let’s talk some turf, Eternally Smoldering? Stylishly Wild? Miss Abilene?
I: Stylishly Wild has come out strong so far this year, we actually had a little trouble getting him competition in March, but he’ll be out there for sure the next few months. Smolder is heading for the Turf Triple Crown, we’re crossing our fingers! Lot of talent out there. Abby is turning into a great little undercard sprinter for us, being of original lines we weren’t sure she’d hold up against the pedigreed racers, but she’s doing better than we anticipated.
NF: Your two year olds have all broken their maidens early this season, do you have any in particular you are aiming for Breeder’s at the end of the year?
I: Oh Noisette, Noisette! It’s only March, Breeder’s is a loooonngg way away! So much can happen in that amount of time, I wouldn’t even think to commit. I will say that our most promising juveniles right now are Authentic Aura, Chocolatier, and Virtuoso. We’re a little flummoxed on the difficulties Wings of Angels has been having, being the daughter of HOF Flashy Wings out of Admiral’s Holiday we had expected her to perform stronger, so we’ll be evaluating her schedule a little more carefully.
NF: Now, I want the scoop for the breeding shed! I spotted your Wannabe Hero turnout, that boy is super popular! I also spotted a new face somewhere in that youngster group of yours. Care to dish?
I: Oh you know me Noisette, I can’t leave the fuzzies alone. Yes, I freed up a lot of openings for Wannabe Hero, as I had I believe four different stables in the space of just a few months I’d turned down for breedings to him. I originally intended on having four foals from him, with nine total, but given the high demand for sprinters I opened his limit, and I will only be having probably two foals from him. Chocolatier, who is a juvenile, and Redemption, who will be out of HOF The True Nut born next season. I was very surprised there was so much interest for him, and I’m very happy to have been able to turn frowns upside down. I do hope his foals succeed for everyone. And there are always fresh little noses in the youngster group Noisette, your readers will just have to poke around NDM and see for themselves.
NF: I know this is a tougher subject, which is why I saved it for last, but please give us an update on Impress the Moonlight’s career difficulties.
I: Yes, this is a difficult one for me. Lily has unfortunately not been able to get into the swing of things, her placements in races have been very disappointing this year, as was the latter half of last season. I was so hoping she’d find her stride once more, but it doesn’t seem to be happening. I have a few more races for her coming up, and if she continues to struggle, we’re going to let her go early and retire her. I feel that I should have let her end her racing the middle of last season, but being my first real star, I hadn’t wanted to end her career on a low note, but it may happen regardless. If she happens to pick up a bit, we’ll hold onto her to the end of the year, but this will definitely be her last season racing, the question is deciding which month that will be.
NF: Will she be having a foal then next season?
I: I don’t want to spoil any surprises, but there may be something in the works for season nineteen. Next season she will not have one, unless Amber Black gives me a call. *wink*
