It's hard to talk about Nut's beginnings. She was born out of pure humor. I honestly didn't believe I would race her and would probably sell her by the time she was two. Her bloodline was nothing to look at. Her sire and dam barely raced and never raced well. She wasn't a horse I was dying to race or a horse I expected to do well.
But for some reason though, I decided to give her a shot. The instant I started to develop her personality, I fell in love with her character. She was the first of my Sim horse I ever actually liked enough to keep outside of Sims. She's been in multiple short stories, from her bossing the other mares around to her planning a great escape, and even made it into my next book. I simply couldn't get enough of this girl.
When it came to racing, I was amazed by how she actually won. One of my home bred horses was actually winning! She always stood out in the field. Whether it was her coat or her personality, it really made her shine and helped her take the win multiple times.
Nut's two year old season was impressive. She ended the season as a Grade Five racer but still managed to kick butt and show the big guns how it was done. She took a very close second in Breeder's Cup Juvenile Turf, after Gorgeous George, who at the time was a G3 racer and a force to be reckoned with. It was her first big race as well. She finished the season by taking the SAI's Thoroughbred Race Horse of the Year 2008 and GHF's Best Grade Five Racehorse of the Year Y6.
Nut's next season was even more spectacular. She won the Unicorn Horn, Turquoise Sprint, Royal Red Richard Memorial Stakes, and took the Breeder's Cup. She came second in the Summer Cup and Little Miss Innocent Memorial Stakes. She also showed in the Spring Cup. Despite her successes that year, she only received a GHF's Encouragement Award Y7.
The following season, Nut gave her final shot at racing. But she went out with a bang! She was recognized as GHF's Best Turf Horse of the Year Y8 and nearly had GHF's Horse of the Year Y8 but lost by one vote. She showed or placed in the Spring Cup, Dream Cup, Winter Cup, Wild Flower Memorial Stakes, Universal Cup Y8, Summer Cup, and GHS Stable Face Off Y8. She took the Turquoise Sprint, Autumn Cup, Royal Red Richard Memorial Stakes, and ended with her final win- The Breeder's Cup. It seemed appropriate for her to end on this win. She ended on the same race that really got her racing career rolling.
Nut finished with only placing out of money for six races- each being fourth place. Her final race record was 71 22-22-21 which means she placed 92% of all her races. Her major wins were: Breeder's Cup Juvenile Turf Unicorn Horn Turquoise Sprint Royal Red Richard Memorial Stakes Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf Turquoise Sprint Autumn Cup Royal Red Richard Memorial Stakes Breeder's Cup Filly & Mare Turf
She was a lot of firsts for me. My first little buckskin. My first crazy mare. My first Sim horse I fell in love with. My first home bred horse that made it all the way to Grade One. My first horse I ever raced from Maiden to Grade One.
As her final success, she is my very first Hall of Fame horse.
