Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the Y17 running of the Queen's Plate, the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown!
We can now officially say that summer has begun with the end of the Triple Crowns and Tiaras. This season has been extremely competitive with different horses dominating on different days. Will we see a continuation of last year where a different horse took each separate leg or will we hearken back to the days of the undeniable strength of Anodyne and stunning class of Italian Ice? We are about to find out!
The weather today is a overwhelming 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The hands and owners will need to be careful to not allow their horses to overheat.

TW Y17 Queens Plate*
WIN: Cascabel (Nose)
PLACE: Patriot
SHOW: Prometheus
4th: Vibe
5th: Proletariat
Proletariat: He had a wonderful juvenile season however he hasn't raced a lot this season and that hit him today. He was pushed to the lead to which tired him out in the end. Maybe racing him in specific HOTY races to build his confidence up before entering him in the next Crown races. He does have potential and will go far.
Vibe: Another incredible horse he was pushed out by the leaders here and had a strong dual with Prometheus who refused to let Vibe pass him. Place him in grade specific HOTY races and I think he will turn around nicely.
Prometheus: Prometheus came in from behind as usual and he gained his energy throughout the race passing the bottom two however like I said he battled out with Vibe before pushing to rush the top two. He was not playing nice here one bit and was cutting it close to Patriot.
Patriot: A fun and witty horse who I enjoy reading over. Patriot is determined and consistent and that's what brought him to his placing here. He remained at ease over the track and when he felt his time was right went for it at the final turn to race for the finish with Cascabel.
Cascabel: Barely won this race at the end but he nosed out Patriot in the last stretch. I enjoyed his personality here and think this horse was not taking a loss here. He demanded the win here.
