LA CONEJA STAKES* - 5.5F - OPEN WIN Escape Artist [nose] PLACE Innerstellar [head] SHOW Ares [neck] FOURTH Silent Snap FIFTH Superb Curiosity
A very close race, with many possible outcomes. All incredible horses, but I felt Escape Artist was ready for this race and edged out Innerstellar at the wire. I saw Ares being just a little tired running in a HOTY* race a week ago, and that allowed Innerstellar to hang on to his lead. Silent Snap: I would try to find HOTY races with three or less entries to help him with his confidence. He should get back into form, but if he doesn't, try him in undercards to build him up. Superb Curiosity: Cara was outclassed today and bullied by the boys. I would recommend keeping her in undercards until she hits G1, then try HOTY* races against fillies/mares only. Or if you can find grade specific filly/mare races, try her in those, too.

Ender That was completely my fault - when I was looking at his page, I read that he was 4 and saw two racing seasons on the page and assumed that the one on the bottom, Y16, was the most recent. I didn't look very thoroughly obviously. You can scratch him!

Sweet Belle Stakes - 8F - G4 WIN Valaska [nose] place Dragonheart show Regal Rose 4th Dudley's Girl 5th Bonfire 6th The Oddity
This race seemed like a competition of which horse could prove to be the better mile. The top two are the ones that seemed to excel at the miler distance and had more experienced tangoing with this exact distance of eight furlongs in question. As I always say, time and time again, all of these horses are great - there's absolutely nothing wrong with them. I do think that the ones that placed out of the money today might enjoy running at the longer distances as time goes on.
SUNSHINE MILLIONS FILLY AND MARE TURF* - 8F - OPEN - 3yo+ F/M WIN Sweet Like Sugar place My Kingdom Come show Scintilla [neck] 4th Santana's Legend 5th Jazzasoleil
A lovely group of mares that have all left their mark on the tracks at some point in their careers. Much like the previous miler race I judged, this group of horses had some clearly defined milers that knew which buttons to push and how hard to push them. Scintilla could be considered the 'favorite' of this race, but she was outsmarted today by My Kingdom Come going into the stretch.
