What Are HOTY Points?
A HOTY point is received for placing first in a race that is bolded/capitalized in the racing schedule of any of the tracks. For example, the winner of the Unicorn Horn Sprint* would receive one HOTY point. No points are received for placing second or third in an HOTY race - only the winner gets the point.
Non Self-Nominating Awards
Member of the Year, Stable of the Year, and Most Improved Stable of the Year. Stable directory can be found here: Click!
Nomination Process
In order to be nominated for a Racing Award, the nominee must have attained a minimum of 4 Horse of the Year points this season. Juveniles must have attained a minimum of 2 Horse of the Year points this season. The exceptions are Best Grade Five/Four/Three awards and prospect awards.
All horses can be nominated, but only the top three HOTY point earners will move on to polling! If there is a tie, they will all be included.
For prospect awards, no minimum HOTY points are required. The graded awards have their specifics in their nomination threads.
Members may not nominate themselves for Stable/Character Awards or Member Awards. Other members must nominate them. There are no requirements in order to be nominated for these awards.
There are no minimum requirements in order to be nominated for a Breeding Award. Members may nominate themselves for Breeder of the Year and all other categories under this award.
Voting Process
Nominations will close for awards once every member seems to have gotten their nominations in (as of Y18, that means the end of the sale). Voting will open as soon as nominations close. Voting will continue until each poll has a minimum of seven votes each. At that time, tiebreaker polls will be put up if needed and all other polls closed. Once tiebreaker polls attain a minimum of seven votes, awards will be announced in the Horse Of The Year board.
There are two rules for voting.
1) You must vote in EVERY POLL.
2) You CANNOT vote for your own horse.
Now....HAVE FUN voting!
