Hello all, as you well know of my Impressario Colt In My Remains has glided over the turf even though he was originally a dirt horse before given a surface supreme to advance him on turf I was wondering what everyone’s opinion would be if during his 3yo season or at least the start of it training him to run on dirt surfaces cause while Impressario did favor turf he also had some dirt races as well and Menace’s Dam was strictly favored on Dirt. I just wanted opinions.

Try it! I personally think Impressario favored dirt, but his foals tend to favor the turf (though that is just a general trend and is far from a rule - many of them also ran excellently on dirt). I'd throw him over both surfaces and see what happens! For example, Italian Ice definitely showed initial favor for the dirt, then through her classic year became accomplished over the turf, then returned to the dirt for her final season. Pandora tried the dirt and did find it to her liking for a bit, but found her true calling over the turf. I'd give him a try over the dirt as you please and see what happens!
