Okay, so I'm getting a heck of a lot of judge feedback on my horses that is making racing planning for them extremely difficult. I realize that we're getting more nit picky because fields are getting large but it's starting to become a problem for my stable. I realize that some horses have 'sweet spots' or 'favorite distances' but it shouldn't be every horse, and it shouldn't mean they're incapable of racing their four furlong span or aren't considered for a win at different distances (I think some others are getting frustrated with this as well?). I'm a little concerned we're becoming a little too nit picky on this?
My hardest hit right now are my sprinters, examples being:
Sugar Demon 5-6
Blue Heroine 6-7
Lux 5-7
Twilight Reign 5-6
I also struggle at the mile distance, such horses like French Quarter, Eternally Smoldering and Phoenix Inferno. I bowed out of both red and green miles series this season because I was told my horses just can't do or won't do well at 8 furlongs (and placed last when I did try). I'm not saying my horses need to win more or should have won, etc., but I find more often last and out of place finishes rack up around the same furlong lengths, and not just for my own stable but others as well. I've also had comments like 'your horse never raced at this distance before so he got last' (and this in the beginning of the juvi year besides).
I can't just race my entire stable at 5, 6, 11, and 12 furlongs here. :/ I realize that horses who have 5 and 6 furlong spans are much more subject to favorite lengths, and I realize I am also guilty of furlong boxing horses which I'm going to make a point to put less emphasis on length when I judge from now on.
I would like some comments/feedback on my horses to where I can take them, especially if I'm stuck running all my sprinters at 5 and 6 furlongs. I'm going to run into some big problems because most of them are all grade five and four currently and there are only so many races to be had without double running, something I'm trying to avoid as fields there are so large right now. I like to try and run all of my horses at all of their furlong lengths a few times in a season so they get experience and variation. Is this wrong? I'll do my best to try and fit them into their favorite spots but at the same time they can't all just run at 6 or 11 furlongs and nothing else. And am I just cursed for the mile races??!!?
Again I'm NOT saying my horses need more wins, but I'm very concerned as these furlong restrictions are getting a bit much for me, I've taken to adding comments to my racing schedules that certain horses can only now run 2 lengths because judges place them last at the other two. Do I need to start slashing off furlong lengths officially or what am I to do here???
I'm going to stop talking now as my brain is goin' a bit caflooey my anxiety is kicking in a bit but just . . . help o.o am I totally imagining all of this or is this a great way to specialize horses in a new way should I be seeing this a positive instead of negative . . . . ?
I'm not the great strategist as you all know well *just remembering to breathe and not be overwhelmed, we are not spiraling down into an inescapable vortex*
